Japanese new year activities!

Date: Sunday, January 4, 2026, 10:45–16:30 (scheduled)
Venue: Naniwa-Palais Park / Na-no-niwa


Performance Program

  • 10:45 – Kagami-biraki (Sake Barrel Opening) & Free Sake
  • 11:00 – Lion Dance
  • 11:30 – Mochi-Pounding Experience
  • 12:00 – Calligraphy Performance
  • 13:00 – Mochi-Pounding Experience
  • 14:00 – Lion Dance
  • 14:30 – Calligraphy Performance
  • 15:00 – Mochi-Pounding Experience
  • 16:00 – Lion Dance

Admission is free.
The Mochi-Pounding Experience and Calligraphy Performance take place on the special stage inside the park.
The Lion Dance will parade throughout the park.

1. Kite-Making Experience

During the Edo period, the area around Naniwa-no-Miya Historical Park was famous for kite flying.
In cooperation with the “NaniPiku Executive Committee (*),” a kite-making booth will be available.

* This citizen group supports the Naniwanomiya 1400 Project, which aims to nurture and assist various community activities in the southern block of Naniwa-no-Miya Historical Park.

  • Time: From 11:00 (limited to 100 participants, ends when supplies run out)
  • Fee: 500 yen per session
  • Participants: Elementary school students and older
    (Preschool children must be accompanied by a guardian.)

2. Tenpyo-Era Costume Experience

Experience traditional Tenpyo-era clothing from the Nara period—when “Naniwa-no-Miya” existed—presented in cooperation with the “Naniwa-no-Miya Ancient Costume Association.”
Please note: The materials and dressing methods differ from actual historical garments.

  • Time: 13:00–16:00
  • Fee: 500 yen per costume
  • Participants: Height 130 cm and above

3. Sweet Sake (Amazake) & Ozoni Sales

Supported by Na-no-niwa vendors, “Beer & Play Station Chiruchiru” will offer sweet sake, and “710 GARDEN” will serve ozoni at the tent booths.

  • Time: From 10:45 (ends when sold out)
  • Price: 500 yen per serving

  • Programs may be changed depending on weather conditions.
  • Event will proceed in rain, but canceled in severe weather.
  • The park is covered with grass. Please bring picnic sheets (no stakes or pegs allowed).
